week 6 Reading-week

My plan for the reading week was to catch up with my work, revisiting my notebook posts from week 1 to week 5, exploring art spaces for inspiration and keeping me motivated.

Artist research

After reading the essay down below and watching the video I felt inspired. Allan Kaprow’s work The Happening is simple and minimalist in nature. I noticed he said in the video that he does not know why he did it and he does not know the reason behind the action or the idea around The Happening performance. He only did it because he wanted to do it, there was no logic or reasoning. This perspective is unsettling but also satisfying to me. Sometimes I don’t understand or don’t want to understand why I want to do some art project or performance.

In conclusion, I have some good points after researching Allan Kaprow’s The Happening

Response from Art+ Science

Attending the brief and filling out the form later in February applying for this competition was a good decision. I learned a lot about how to approach and engage with an open opportunity. Overall, it was a good learning experience.

Reflection

It was a long, exhausting and emotional week. I felt like I haven’t done enough and during the weekend I felt burnt out lost and down. On the other hand, I am glad that I have done as much work as I can.
