The start of this journey has been a tough one, through self doubt and wobbling through my own decisions I may have rushed big decisions when it comes to my future but that’s all part of the process – no one can tell you what you can do with your life and no one can decide for you. You have to decide for yourself.
But I can only show you the door. You’re the one that has to walk through it.
Morpheus, ‘The Matrix’
Now I have decided that the research and practise module will be the creation of a musical track that can evoke a powerful emotion and can be successful in its pacing/structure; this will be done through artist research into some of my favourite soundtrack composers as well as studying how a movie scene can influence the track also.
This will be completed through the musical DAW (digital audio workstation) programme called Logic Pro X – it will also be an interesting concept of completing a whole cinematic composition fully within a digital workspace.
The development process will show screengrabs from the composing in question as well potentially some time lapses of song writing/composing or trial and error proofing.
Artist Research:
- Hans Zimmer (Interstellar, The Dark Knight Trilogy, DaVinci Code)
- Howard Shore (The Lord of the Rings)
- John Williams (Jurassic Park, and lots more)
Programmes:
- Logic Pro X (macOS)
Soundtracks (single track) for study/consideration:
- Mountains – Hans Zimmer (Pacing)
- Lux Aeterna – Clint Mansell (Anxiety)
- Breaking of the fellowship – Howard Shore (loss/rebirth)
